This copy of the original map was 'Reproduced for the Historical Society of West Wales by Emery Walker Limited, 1930'. This very rare and unusual map which was originally published on February 24th, 1798, records the French military incursion from 22nd to 24th February 1797 and shows the positions, deployments and activities of opposing forces from the 22nd until the French surrender two days later.

A copy of the original plan, which was "Reproduced for the Historical Society of West Wales by Emery Walker Limited, 1930." The original very rare plan was "Published 20 March 1797 by Laurie and Whittle, Fleet street, London." The map clearly outlines the military manoeuvres that occurred during the two days of the French invasion in February 1797. The plan provides a fascinating record of events that almost changed the course of British history, back in the last years of the 18th century.

Published in 'An Atlas of England and Wales' by C. Saxton, 1587, and is the earliest printed map of the county of Pembroke. Top left, below the Royal arms supported by a lion and dragon is the title cartouche. Bottom left, the arms of Saxton's patron - Thomas Seckford, with the motto "Industria Naturam Ornat". Bottom right, Saxton's name on a band around a compass and measuring scale. Has the water mark of the 'bunch of grapes' which is from one of the earliest impressions of the Atlas and contemporary hand colouring.

This map together with the whole of Mordens pack of cards were republished in 1773 by H. Turpin in a book entitled " A Brief Description of England and Wales". This rare and curious antique map of 'Pembroke and Carmarthen' was produced from the research of Aristide Michael Perrot and engraved by Adrien Migneret, was published in G. B. Depping's L'Angleterre. Ou Description Historique et Topographique Du Royaume Royaume Uni De La Grande-Bretagn in 1823. This map, a copper plate engraving, has original outline hand colouring. Some maps show a single county, but more often two or more counties were joined to form a group which is similar in industry, agriculture and terrain.
