Inset town plan of Monmouth. Decorative strapwork cartouche and mileage scale. This is one of the most decorative maps of the county, with armorials, a portrait of Henry V and the Prince of Wales' feathers. It was published in John Speed's 'Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain', with a description of the county and a table of place names on the reverse. Good margins as shown.
