The islands of New Zealand are named with their Maori names. Today's North Island is named as "New Ulster, North Island or Eaheinomauwe", today's South Island as "New Munster, Middle Island or Tavai Poenammoo", and Stewart Island / Rakiura as "New Leinster, South or Stewart Island".
