Thomas Taylor is significant in a Welsh context for publishing the small county atlas 'The Principality of Wales exactly described' in 1718, which seems to have been the first published atlas relating entirely to Wales. The colouring is original. Maps from this atlas are not easy to find. Generous margins and fine condition.

Initially issued in 1607, Britannia was the first publication that contained a complete set of individual county maps of England and Wales. The maps were based on the earlier work of Christopher Saxton and John Norden and were engraved by William Hole and William Kip. Blank verso. Wide margins. Later colouring.

A tiny antique county map of Cardiganshire published by John Luffman in his atlas " New Pocket Atlas and Geography of England and Wales" in 1803. This atlas contained fifty four of these circular maps which measure 6cms in diameter. Beneath each map is an account of the county which includes its size, number of towns, parishes, houses and population and details of rivers, terrain, industry and products of the county.

This rare and curious antique map of Cardiganshire was produced from the research of ARISTIDE MICHAEL PERROT in 1823. This map, a copper plate engraving, has original outline handcolouring. Some maps show a single county, but more often two or more counties were joined to form a group which is similar in industry, agriculture and terrain.
