Ref: 2346176 An antique engraved map dated 1669, with inset of 'Isles of Schetland', decorative cartouche and scale. The map is embellished with a large, elaborate heraldic cartouche with a dedication to Charles the Second just below, and numerous sailing ships and sea monsters shown in the seas. Ref: 23119 An antique map of Great Britain titled 'Les Isles Britanniques' This fascinating 1862 map by Justus Perthes depicts the British Isles including England, Scotland and Ireland. Land profiles of the region are depicted to the left and right of the map. Justus Perthes (1749 - 1812) was one of the most important German cartographic engravers of the 19th century. Ref: 6784 A very scarce antique map which was published in France in 1772 by Phillipe Buache who succeeded his relative Guillaume De L'Isle. The De L'Isle family were a very influential cartographic dynasty. The map depicts the British Isles and Ireland with northern France and part of Scandinavia shown. It is in very good condition with full borders as published. A few traces of worm on the bottom edge and a small repair to the centrefold in the bottom margin. Approx 61.5cms by 47cms.
